How Will You Retain Good Employees As The Economy Rebuilds? (December 2009)

As we are ‘officially’ coming out of recession many companies are licking their wounds and so are their employees.  This presents the challenge to pacify staff who have worked hard all year perceiving it has been fruitless for them as new opportunities start to come into view on the horizon.

It's time for employers to look forward and not back on the disaster...

Recent studies have shown that less than one third of companies have not made plans for recovery and rebuilding as the Australian economy starts to regain strength.

Many companies have over estimated employee engagement and risk turnover and associated costs of disgruntled employees as they leave for greener pastures.

Whilst the down turn may have provided opportunity for shedding 'dead wood', for some employers the cost of carrying that over the past years is far greater.

After recession it is common to have a re-shuffle of talent throughout the employment marketplace.

There are two ways of looking at how this impacts your organisation.

1. You may welcome the opportunity to gain fresh and better talent.2. You may need to protect your skills base and retain good existing talent. However having the opportunity for ‘new blood’ and actually getting the right type for your organisation are critical differences and if you don't have  a strong recruitment strategy without the supporting tools to ensure you are getting the best may lead you right back to ending up with a tinder box of fire fuel—dead wood. That is where Corporate Canary comes in. We help you ensure that you are getting the right employees on board and avoid the costly mistake of poor hiring decisions.Using  tools that will tell you if the desired candidate matches your current position and reveals instantly if they are management material or not, or alternatively if for a sales role will indicate if they are a strong closer or not or suited to shorter sales cycles than longer cycles saves you time and money in the long term. This is critical information you need to know before you make the hiring decision and end up in a lengthy, expensive and difficult process of extracting them out of the organisation without the damage along the way.Would you like to see how you can get the right people on board knowing rather than guessing they are right?
